August 2017 Events

August 12, 2017 : Bi-monthly meeting at Emma Prusch Park in San Jose. Open to all. Meeting starts at 1:00. Come early for chatting and snacking. Topic will be a presentation by Janet Barton on the California Nursery historical Park in the Niles District of Fremont. The park is the last remaining 21 acres of the 463 acre nursery that was once “largest West of the Rockies”. There are archives that go back at least to 1884. Janet will be speaking about the fruits and nuts. And she will be talking also about John Rock’s Nurseries in San Jose which were established in 1865 (after the Civil War) on the banks of Coyote Creek. The nurseries were 4 miles north of Prusch Park.
